BiO Chickens are nutrient and mineral-dense, meaning that you can eat less and receive a higher level of sustenance. They have high levels of cholesterol-lowering, beneficial fats as well as a higher amount of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin B3 (niacin), B6 and selenium. They are also gluten-free.
Our chickens forage on our bio-dynamic pastures (free from chemical fertilisers and pesticides) where there is an abundance of green grass and insects. In addition we provide access to organic grains, plenty of sunlight and fresh air making them taste much much better than factory-raised chickens.
We guarantee that when you eat BiO Chicken you will not consume any antibiotics or other unwanted medications as we do not treat our chickens with drugs.
The individual processing of each chicken eliminates the need to bathe the chicken in chlorine as is the practice in industrial processing. Processing in our farm-based abattoir takes only 30 minutes from farm-to-freezer, so you can be assured that Bio chickens are as fresh as possible.
We recommend cooking the chicken a little slower at a lower heat to keep the flesh moist. The meat is firm to the fork and the skin also provides valuable, fat-solulable vitamins and anti-microbial, fatty acids. So don’t feel guilty about enjoying the crispy, golden skin when you roast one of our BiO-dynamic, organic-certified chooks!

We have a closed farming cycle – waste not, want not!
All waste from the abattoir goes in the compost. All waste water is captured and used in the composting system. The chickens’ organic manure helps fertilise the soil.
The caravan style housing system and grazing management means our flocks are grazed on a rotational basis within large paddocks.
As well as our BiO-dynamic pasture management, we utilise native and riparian (existing plants along the river bank) buffer zones to encourage diversity within our farm ecosystem.
BiO Chickens get access to fresh pasture daily and opportunities to engage in natural animal behaviour like dust-bathing, sunbathing and foraging. There are small numbers in every flock and they are free to range out in the open every day. When the sun goes down they retire to their caravans which provide good protection from predators. These are then moved so areas do not become over-grazed.
BiO does not practise wing clipping or debeaking.
